Our current times are fraught with uncertainty and fear. How are you managing, dear ones?  When we are feeling or seeing threat or harm we might feel like running toward or running away. We may notice the varied manifestations of this stress, including but not limited to, irritability and quick judgment, numbness, grief, anger, or forced cheerfulness.

With a Hakomi lens, we will explore the ways in which we react or respond to instability. We will also pay attention to the call to be ourselves and offer to the world our greatest gifts so that we may balance instability with courage, creativity and shared wisdom. Through the Hakomi practice of Loving Presence, we learn about the power of reciprocity.

Let’s come together to forge or strengthen connections through attentive care for one another. The warmth and welcome in community can be a source of nourishment, a place of refuge.

"In reciprocity, we fill our spirits as well as our bellies.”

    Robin Wall Kimmerer

All skill levels are welcome - from beginner to advanced

    Hakomi Skills Training

    September 13, 2025

Each module in this new training series focuses students on one of the six important skill sets in learning Hakomi. In this module, we begin with state of mind skills.

State of Mind - How and Why it Matters

"The therapist will also be very warm, kind and patient. The vulnerability that mindfulness entails, the openness to unconscious material that’s needed, all require a very safe environment, which needs a particularly caring, non-judgmental person. You can expect your therapist to be exactly that."

    -Ron Kurtz

    Facilitated by Georgia Marvin

Saturday, September 21 from 10am to noon and 1pm to 3pm PST.

Please adjust to your time zone.

Hakomi Education Network Vancouver

As visitors to this sacred land, we offer respect and gratitude to the people who have come before us, and all stewards of this land: past present and future. We recognize that what is now known as Vancouver is the traditional unceded land of the Tsleil-waututh, Squamish and Musqueam peoples and is now also home to many diverse Indigenous, Inuit and Métis peoples. We are grateful to have the opportunity to be nourished on this land and we set our intention to be instruments of healing.
